They said good things come in small packages. True to this, High Praise Assembly or Emmanuel Breakfast Fellowship (EBF) as it was first known was born on 16th July, 1989 with a congregation consisting mainly of adults, youth and a handful of families with an earnest desire and passion for the awesome presence of the Almighty God as we worship Him.
The first premise was a rented hall known as "The Milk Bar" at the Kok Kee Restaurant, at Jalan Sultan Idris Shah, Ipoh, which could accomodate approximately 180 people. The long hall was almost full when we first had our bilingual service. The presence of God was awesome each time the church came together to worship Him. The central theme of the church was "To Worship The Lord in the Beauty of Holiness" and this has been the perpetuating factor to surround the church with the presence of the Almighty God until today.
On 16th July 1990, with the leading of the Holy Spirit, the church changed its name "Emmanuel Breakfast Fellowship" to Emmanuel High Praise Assembly" (EHPA). During the initial years, despite facing many challenges and meeting various kinds of difficulties, the church was self-supporting and the church has seen clearly the faithfulness of God throughout the years of relentless pursuit of His will. Therefore, Romans 8:28 "..... And we know that all things work together to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." do apply aptly to HPA.
EHPA again moved to a rented premise and had its first Sunday service on 18th August 1991, at 266A&B, Jalan Pasir Putih, Ipoh. In 1992, EHPA officially used the present name "High Praise Assembly". With the leading of the Holy Spirit, the church working committee set to put the House of the Lord in order by appointing Brother Ling Bek Sing as an interim pastor to HPA members.
As the years went by, the church grew spiritually fervent and in numbers as well. More families and working individual were added. Various ministries such as Bible Studies, Children Church and Youth Ministry were also established.
As the church progressed, more musical instruments were added to enhance praise and worship. The Lord also led many talented people and anointed speakers to this church and they were indeed a blessing to the congregation of this church. Prayer has been an uncompromising ingredient towards High Praise Assembly's growth and success. It could never be emphasized enough. The Lord's presence especially at prayer meetings has always been something special and extraordinary.
Home cells were also started and in the course of time, the number of attendance multiplied. The influx of new members to the church was a tangible sign of God's presence and working in the church. More space was needed. So it was that the church has to move to a bigger premise. We then moved to our present premise in December 2006. This was our first purchased premise - a miracle which every HPA member takes pride and joy in. The Lord has been faithful in providing all our needs including the purchase of these three units of double storey shop lots.
Again, the faithfulness of God is manifest, in providing HPA with the finances, resources and the people in the acquisition and renovation of the present premises through the sacrificial and generous giving by the members of HPA, relatives and friends of HPA. Words will never be enough to express our thankfulness and gratitude to our most loving God.
We are very excited because we can see God using this church to bring transformation to so many people today and it will increase. Getting saved is only the beginning of God's work in our lives. His ultimate vision is to bring transformation that will change us to be like His Son, Jesus Christ. Transformed lives will result in transformed families, a transformed church and ultimately a transformed society. Therefore, transformation must be the fruit of the ministry of our church.
"For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the first born among many brethen" (Romans 8:29)
"I will remember the works of the Lord. Surely I will remember Your wonders of old. I will also meditate on all Your work and talk of Your deeds........ You are the God who does wonders. You have declared Your strength among the people." (Psalms 77:11-14)

第一个租来的礼堂,地点是在郭记酒家的奶吧,能容纳180人.当我们进行第一次双语聚会时,长型的礼堂几乎挤满了人.每次我们敬拜是,神的同再令人敬畏.那时教会的中心主题是"在主的圣洁荣美中敬拜他".这主题成为全能神同再和围绕教会至今的永存因素.
在1990年7月16日,在圣灵的带领下,教会把以马内利早餐团契改为以马内利高赞教会.早年,虽面对重重困难和诸般的挑战,教会一直是自供自足的,并且在不断的追求他旨意中,明显地看见神的信实.应验了罗马书8章28节所说的: 我们知道万事互相效力,叫爱上帝的人得益处,就是按他的旨意被召的人.
1991年8月18日,以马内利高赞教会再次搬迁到大和园的旧址.1992年,以马内利高赞教会正式以现今的高赞教会命名.在圣灵的带领下,教会的事工团委林必信弟兄为牧师,以使主的家更有次序.
几年后,教会在灵里增长,更多的家庭和带职人士加入.各种事工如圣经查考班,儿童主日学和少年事工一一成立,
不久,更多的乐器被增添,使敬拜赞美更具特色.主也带领了更多有才华和受膏的讲员倒来.他们的确给了会友们祝福.祷告一直是教会增长和成功的不可妥协的要素.它是永不够强调的.主的同再,尤其是在祷告会中,一直是特殊和无可比的.
家庭小组开始了,人数逐日增加.新会友的涌入,显示神真实地在教会中同再和运行.教会需要更多的空间.因此教会必须搬迁到更大的会所,於是我们在2006年12月迁移到现今的会所.这是我们第一个自资购买的会所,一个令每个高赞会友引以为豪和欢欣的神迹.主信实地供应了一切所需要的,包括让我们再次购买第三间双层店屋.
再次,神的信实再度彰显,他供应高赞教会一切经济上,资源上和人事上的帮助,让我们获得并装修现今的会址.一切是通过会友们,亲友们无私和慷慨的奉献.
今天我们非常兴奋地看见神使用教会让更多的人得改造,因得救只是神在生命中工作的开始.他主要的目的乃是要我们被改造为像他爱子,耶稣基督.改造了的生命产生改造的家庭,改造的教会及事实上改造的社会.因此,改造必定是教会事工的果子.
"因为他预先所知道的人,就预先定下效法他儿子的模样,使他儿子在许多弟兄中作长子."罗马书8:29
"我要提说耶和华所行的,我要记念祢古时的奇事;我也要思念祢的经营,默念祢的作为 .... 祢是行奇事的上帝,祢曾 在列邦中彰显祢的能力."诗篇77:11-14
